First Years Winners Are Back to Defend!

The NYO Alumni Softball tournament is back! Last year’s inaugural event proved to be a huge success, as former NYO players, parents, and coaches hit the diamond in a fun-filled afternoon. This year’s tournament will be held Saturday, August 12th.

This year’s contest will feature a double elimination format. Many of last year’s competitors are returning including the defending champions, captained by Thomas Willingham, as well as last years’ runner-up, captained by Patrick Jackson and Stewart Wallace.

We are also adding a Home Run Derby to this years' event. Participants will get 10 swings to see how many they can knock out of Wilkins Field. Prizes will be given out to the winners of the under 40, over 40, and female division winners. (Read More - Click Headline)

NYO Night (Kyle Farmer Night) at The Braves Game This Thursday Evening

Dreams do come true!

NYO Families and Friends, our very own Kyle Farmer has been called up to THE SHOW, and made his Big League debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers just this week and was it A SHOW! Kyle hit the big time with a walk off double in the bottom of the 11th inning vs. the San Francisco Giants on Sunday night.

Let’s all head over to Sun Trust Park on Thursday, August 3rd to support Kyle in true NYO style. Wear your NYO gear, make a sign, and let’s get crazy and support Kyle.

Got football? Pack a dinner in the car and show up a little late. Got School the next day? Come out for a few innings, support Kyle and still get your 8 hours of sleep! We'd love to see you there!!

To purchase tickets set at $24 each go to:

Please direct ANY QUESTIONS about Braves ticketing to Gabby at 404-614-1444.

GO KYLE!!

Farmer gets the call

UPDATE - In case you missed the news, Kyle had quite a debut in the Sunday night national game on the week on ESPN, including an 11th inning walk off game winning two run double in his first MLB at bat, a team dogpile on the field, a curtain call, several gatorade baths and a post game live interview on Sports Center.  He's the first Dodger in the history of that franchise to have a walk off hit in his first MLB at bat. Even better than if they had scripted it down the street in Hollywood! Congrats to Kyle and the Farmer family and we're looking forward to seeing Kyle at SunTrust Park this week. Here's some links in case you missed the excitement.

To the NYO Baseball Family:  In the spring of 1996, the NYO Tee Ball Reds featured had a lot of brand new players to baseball including a precocious young 5 year old by the name of Kyle Farmer. Coached by his dad that year and throughout his NYO career into the Pony league, Kyle always dazzled. We continued to watch him star at Marist and then as the 4 year starting SS at UGA.  And after Kyle has worked his way up through the minor leagues the last four years, we are pleased and proud to share the following from the LA Dodgers Twitter account posted late Friday afternoon:

Los Angeles Dodgers€ - Verified account @Dodgers
Today, the #Dodgers recalled C/IF Kyle Farmer (#65) from Triple-A OKC and optioned left-handed pitcher Grant Dayton to Triple-A OKC.
5:34 PM - 28 Jul 2017

This is an unbelievable accomplishment for Kyle and the entire Farmer family. The amount of work it has taken to get to this level is unfathomable. We are thrilled for them and wish Kyle the very best of luck in the "show".
This is also a wonderful moment for NYO Baseball as we now have our first ever NYO career player from tee ball on up) in the bigs. There are still dozens of old coaches, teammates and league officials involved in the program who played with, against or coached Kyle, and it's a very proud day for all. In fact, it's just a great day for the whole program!

We're not sure when Kyle will make his debut, but the Dodgers and Giants start a series tonight on the west coast so keep the kiddos up late and tune in on MLB if you can. And as luck would have it, the Dodgers come to SunTrust Park next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you head out to the park, be sure to wear some of your NYO gear in case we get a chance to see Kyle in action.

We are also keeping a close eye on Chesny Young who continues to shine for the AAA Iowa Cubs and we're hopeful he's next. And we'll also start following our 4 young MLB draft choices who are all getting their start in Rookie ball.

Just a few weeks until we crank up fall ball. Who knows if there will be another Kyle Farmer out there!  Enjoy the rest of your summer and thanks for reading and allowing us to share this wonderful news.
Proudly, NYO Baseball

Cheer Alumni Spotlight - Ava!

This cheer alumni spotlight focuses on Ava, a four year participant, award-winning NYO cheerleader that is still actively helping our program in many other ways today.

Ava began her NYO cheer career in the fall of 2012. Throughout her four seasons, she was voted by her squad to represent them as an All-Star cheerleader all four years. This is a huge honor, as it is voted on by your teammates and coaches, honoring a girl with strong cheer skills, leadership and teamwork abilities.  Ava says she fondly remembers cheering at NYO and that halftime performances and cheering at football games as the sun went down are two of her favorite memories.  Ava's mom also served irreplaceably for years as a valuable volunteer and team mom, thus providing Ava with a lot of fun practice memories as well.
