Hawks Win a Close One vs. the Bulls in the Senior League Championship Game

Both teams came out of the break on a rampage. George Adams caught fire from deep for the Hawks, while Payne and Parker Battin dominated down low for the Bulls. Heading into the fourth, the Bulls maintained their lead, up 56-53.

True to the rest of the game, the fourth quarter was a back and forth affair. However, with four minutes left, the Bulls good looks stopped falling. Timely buckets for the Hawks pushed their lead to line. A flurry of buckets late got the Bulls within four, however they were never able to get closer, as the Hawks sealed a 73-68 victory.
The Hawks got positive minutes from all eight players, including great team defense in the fourth quarter. The Adams brothers paced the scoring with a combined 57 points. The Bulls routinely moved the ball around the floor, doing a great job of getting all players involved. They were led on the scoreboard by the trio of Payne, Price, and Battin, who combined for 55 points.
The Cowan-Jackson led Hawks have now won three of the last five NYO Senior League Championships. When asked for the reasoning of their success after the game, Will Cowan grinned, stating "We have an adept ability of scouting talent in this league. We spend a lot of time in the film room, and it pays off." Asked if there was anything to add, Jackson recited "big time players, make big time plays, in big time games."
Thanks to everyone for a great season. We are looking forward to the 2017-2018 season already.
