2017 Jane Wilkins Baseball/Softball Opening Day

Hello NYO Nation!

It's almost time... Is everyone ready to take the field???

We've all just sprung forward and there's an eager energy in the air that feels like the entire park is on deck... you know it's time to kick off the 2017 baseball/softball season and we are all excitedly awaiting that first official pitch...

NYO's Jane Wilkins Baseball/Softball Opening Day 2017 will take place this Saturday, March 18.  This is our own fantastic community tradition with a goal to get everyone in the spirit for all of the games ahead.   The parade will include NYO's Christopher League, Kit Kat and Rookie softball teams and all Small Ball, Shetland Blue, Red and Rookie baseball teams. Every year, the tradition carries on as many of our older athletes come back to volunteer their time to assist the younger crowd that looks up to them... we really are a team!  There is also an always impressive crew of Atlanta school and professional team mascots to really get the crowd fired-up!

The traditional Opening Day parade will kick off with a bang at 11am sharp from the Garr Field left field gate.  The main parking will be closed early that morning, so after you drop your participant off with parade volunteers at the fabulous balloon arch, (located at the main entrance of the parking lot between Garr Field and W. Wiecua), marchers will be happily escorted on to Garr Field to meet their coaches, teammates and some famously known mascots!

***Take note, there will be shuttles available for all Opening Day attendees from Sutton Middle School (4360 Powers Ferry Road 30327) to the NYO fields.  Parking may be difficult so this is a great way to get everyone to the fields without much stress.  We all know that this is a special and exciting morning, but please allow yourself a little extra time and pack your patience so that we all arrive and leave in good spirits.

We do ask that NO parents enter the Garr Field gates (don't laugh, y'all know that we are pretty crazy about this... honestly, it REALLY makes for an easier parade lineup) . Again, parade volunteers will happily escort everyone to their places.

The kick-off festivities will conclude by noon on Wilkins Field, so please plan to grab your player quickly as games will begin soon.

Now it's time to relax and find a spot along the parade route- get your cameras ready to go-  capturing the smiles of NYO's youngest is priceless!
