Minors Fastpitch Softball Ages 9 and 10

LEAGUE OVERVIEW The NYO Minor League is comprised of girls ages 9 and 10 as of December 31. The focus of the Minor League is on instruction and fundamentals, and the girls get the opportunity to play "real" softball. The Minor League is the first time the girls get to pitch (and the hitters get to face kid pitchers instead of coach pitchers). The girls steal bases. At the end of the season, all teams play in an exciting single-elimination playoff.

A few important points about the NYO Minor League:

• Player Evaluations/Team Assignments: on Saturday, January 28, the Minor League players will participate in player evaluations. Each player will have the opportunity to hit, run, catch and throw. The entire evaluation period lasts only about 45 minutes. The following weekend , the Minor League coaches will select the teams via a draft. You will be contacted by your coach early the following week, i.e. by mid-February.

• Season: once teams are selected, the girls will practice twice a week until games begin in March. Once the season starts, the girls will play one weeknight game (usually either Wednesday or Friday night) and one Sunday afternoon game. The girls will practice for two hours (one hour on the field and one hour in the batting cage) each Saturday.
