This season saw the Tsunami capture the Senior league title, winning their way through the loser’s bracket of the playoffs to championship night where they had to win two games from the Alphabet to win the league tournament.
The team was anchored by three players, Kassie Spain, Quillin Perlis and Samantha Carbonara, playing their last NYO season. Throughout the spring, the Tsunami brought to every game a balanced force of pitching, hitting and defense. The pitching duo of Sydney Silverstein and Carbonara were a powerful combination that led the league with the lowest amount of runs given up! At the plate, the Tsunami led the league in homeruns and runs scored as a team as well as Allison Ohde leading the league with 5 home runs of her own. Championship night saw a lot of the same with Tsunami scoring a combined 16 runs on the night; 12 runs in the first game for a 12 – 4 win and then winning the second game 4 – 0. Sydney Silverstein only gave up 4 runs in 13 innings over two games for the sweep and Allie Ohde scorched a home run over the left field fence. Timely hits from Carson Will and Olivia Bontempo helped add to the score while Leah Eiland, Shawn Pollack and Lauren Leonard were strong on defense. Audrey Vasquez was the dugout leader, limited by a concussion suffered in the quarterfinal game. The Alphabet were led by Alisa Steel who threw two great games from the circle with Bari Steel behind the plate. Lindsay Broadway was her usual force at shortstop as well as at the plate, with the Alphabet also receiving key contributions from Annabelle Lawson, Perrin Kendall and Evelyn Hunter. Congratulations goes out to the Tsunami coaches, Steven Silverstein & Amy Ohde, the Tsunami team and their families!
