The NYO Alumni Softball tournament is back for it’s 3rd annual event. This year’s tournament will be held Saturday, August 11th as former NYO players, parents, and coaches hit the diamond in a fun-filled afternoon.
This year’s contest will feature a double elimination format. Many of last year’s competitors are returning including the two time defending champions, captained by Thomas Willingham, as well as last years’ runner-up, captained by Scooter Owes and Leo Rose. Will Team Willingham 3-peat or will a new champion be crowned?
We will once again hold a home run derby prior to the start of the tournament. Participants will get 10 swings to see how many they can knock out of Wilkins Field. Prizes will be given out to the winners. With over 20 participants, former Majors Coach and Vanderbilt Alum Adam Cronk took home last year’s title in the under 40 division, fighting off valiant efforts from Blake Fortune and Wesley Lacefield. David Bickers won the over 40 division and Christie Jones won the women’s division.
As a reminder, the NYO alumni association is not only open to former players – any former coach, parent, referee, or umpire from any NYO sport qualifies as an alumni and is invited to take part in these events. Become a sustaining member of the NYO alumni association today by visiting https://nyosports.com/index.php/alumni/alumni. All full time members will be able to participate in the Annual Softball and Basketball tournaments for an annual cost of $100. You may also participate in the Softball tournament by obtaining a Junior membership for $25 at https://reg.nyosports.com/exec/clientnew/nyoalumnisoftball.php . Please contact Ross Conway at email@example.com for any questions you may have regarding the Alumni Association or Softball tournament.
Stay tuned for information on future NYO alumni events. The first annual golf tournament will be held in the spring of 2019. We are also looking to incorporate multiple happy hours throughout the year for Alumni Association members. Don’t miss out on the next alumni event!
