PROGRAM OVERVIEW
MISSION: In conjunction with NYO’s mission, our cheer program emphasizes character development, sportsmanship, healthy competition, and positive coaching. NYO Cheer is an all-inclusive cheer league
SEASON RUN DATES: August 2024 - November 2024
PROGRAM FOCUS: The NYO cheer program will be offered to children K-8th broken out by age. The program focuses not only on cheer, but also stunting, tumbling, and dance. Towards the beginning of November, our cheer program hosts the NYO Cheer Off, a friendly competition where our cheerleaders show off their skills in choreographed, team centered routines.
GOAL: Our goal is to provide the best opportunity for cheerleaders - both brand new and experienced - to build their skills and enjoy cheerleading through confidence building activities, positive leadership, and encouragement.
EXPECTATIONS: This is a sport and both practice and games are MANDATORY
LEAGUE INFO
NYO SENIORS:
- Offered to 6th-8th grade
- Senior squad with the purpose of building cheer skills and keeping skills sharp up until high school tryouts.
- Seniors will NOT cheer for NYO football teams, but instead will cheer at large NYO events, special NYO games, and community events such as halftimes at middle or high school football games.
- NYO Seniors will have a firm registration cap to ensure proper attention and training can be given.
- Commitment: 1x a week practice. 1-2x a month performance events.
- Included in registration fee: Uniform, pom poms, and bow. Cheer shoes and jacket available at additional cost.
NYO BIGS:
- Offered to 3rd-7th grade
- Cheerleaders will be broken out into designated squads by age+grade and assigned to an individual bigs football team (our BIGS football teams)
- Sisters within the bigs program will be paired with brothers within the big program if needed (please note brothers name in registration)
- Commitment: 1x a week practice 1x a week game
- Included in registration fee: Uniform, pom poms, and bow. Cheer shoes and jacket available at additional cost.
NYO LITTLES:
- Offered to K-2nd grade
- Great opportunity for children wanting to test out cheerleading and learn the basics of cheer with others their own age.
- Commitment: 1x a week practice 1x a week game.
- Games will be on a designated day and squads will not be assigned to an individual team.
- Included in registration fee: Uniform, pom poms, and bow. Cheer shoes and jacket available at additional cost.
